    18th July 1918 – 5th December 2013

Rev Canon Christian Weaver led the City of Nottingham in a community memorial service held on 1st March 2014 to remember and celebrate Nelson Mandela’s beautiful life and many achievements. It was indeed a Service of Remembrance and Celebration for the life and work of this truly great and humble person.

Who would doubt the tremendous impact the late Nelson Mandela has had on people around the world.  Mandela’s death and subsequent spontaneous outpouring of grief at his passing, has at the same time, created a wellspring of joy and hope for us who survive him.  The Pilgrim Church was proud to recall that the people of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire have for many years been at the forefront with Mandela in his fight against apartheid and his struggles to create a fair, just and equal society.
