Our Story.

A Journey of Faith, Vision & Community

Our Beginings

The Pilgrim Church in Britain grew out of pioneering work led by Reverend Dennis Sampson (1912–1972), who migrated from Antigua during the Windrush generation — a time when thousands journeyed to Britain seeking opportunity and new beginnings.

The first members of Pilgrim Church in the UK were either former members of the church in the Caribbean or people familiar with its mission. What began as a spiritual home for Caribbean believers quickly grew into something far greater.

In Nottingham, the church was pioneered by Rev. Canon Christian Weaver CBE, who responded to God’s call and helped establish a foundation of worship, teaching, and social engagement that continues today.

Growing in Faith and Influence.

Throughout the 1960s and beyond, Pilgrim Church welcomed new believers and grew steadily in number. What began as a small congregation became a vibrant church family rooted in worship, fellowship, and community action.

As the church matured, so did its influence, not only spiritually, but socially and culturally within Nottingham and across the UK.

A Prophetic & Healing Ministry

God has raised up within Pilgrim Church a dynamic prophetic and healing ministry through His servant, Reverend Rose Burrell.

For over two decades, Rev. Rose has faithfully served as a spiritual “watchman” for the church, leading a team called and anointed to minister through divine revelation, prayer, and healing.

This ministry continues to shape the spiritual direction of Pilgrim Church today.

These pillars guide everything we do, from worship to outreach, and empower every member to discover and use their God-given gifts.

A Prophetic Foundation

Pilgrim Church draws deep inspiration from the prophetic vision found in Zechariah, particularly chapter 2.

The themes of divine protection, unbounded reach, and the manifestation of God’s glory resonate strongly with the journey of Pilgrim Church.

Just as the post-exilic community looked forward with hope, Pilgrim Church anticipates the ingathering of God’s people and the unfolding of His glory in greater measure than ever before.

For I, declares the Lord, will be a wall of fire around her… and I will be the glory within her.
— Zechariah 2:5
